HOME COLLECTIONS TEACHING RESEARCH VISITING STAFF

Visiting the Greenhouses:

With one of the most diverse plant collections in the northeastern United States, the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Greenhouses are an exciting destination in eastern Connecticut.

We welcome drop-in visitors to come have a look around to see what's new and also offer guided tours for school age children and special groups.

If you are interested in making a day of it and would like to know what other reasons there are to come to UConn there are many - sporting activities, museums, the dairy bar just to name a few.

Planning your Visit

On Your Own:

We are located on the main campus of the University of Connecticut at Storrs, CT. (directions) Our facility is located behind the Torrey Life Sciences building and is open to the public Monday thru Friday from 8 AM until 4 PM. We are closed weekends and most state holidays.

Parking is limited on the Storrs campus and we advise visitors to park in the North Parking Garage. Upon exiting the garage, walk up hill (east) on North Eagleville Road and take the stairway down between the Biological Sciences / Physics building and Torrey Life Science building. You may enter the greenhouses via the doorway off the plaza area. For handicapped access you can enter Torrey Life Sciences building and take the elevator to the lower level and follow the corridor back to the greenhouses.

Our staff is generally on-hand to answer any questions you may have or help you find a plant you wish to see. We do periodically close down some rooms for routine pest control spraying. If you would like to verify that a particular part of the collection will be open, please do not hesitate to call prior to your visit. (860-486-4052)

Organized Tours:

Organized tours of our facility are available to school groups, garden clubs and other interested groups during the week. These are typically about an hour in length and led by Greenhouse Staff or EEB Graduate Students. A fee is charged for these tours.

Contact Clinton Morse - 860-486-8941 for further details on all organized tours.
