Actinorhizal plants are a group of angiosperms characterized by their ability to form a symbiosis with the nitrogen fixing actinobacteria Frankia. This association leads to the formation of nitrogen-fixing root nodules.1
Here at the University of Connecticut, Dr. David Benson in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology conducts research focusing on Frankia. His web page has an extensive collection of information on this subject.
