  • Habitat:

  • Description: Widely distributed along the eastern coast of Australia, this spectacular orchid grows on rocks and trees where it forms large spreading clumps. The pseudobulbs are usually large and thick, tapering to the apex and varying in length from 4 in (10 cm) to 3 ft (1 m). Two to five oval, thick dark green leaves are borne on the top of each pseudobulb. Racemes up to 24 in (60 cm) long are densely clustered with small fragrant flowers from pure white to cream or yellow, with the lip often marked with purple spots or stripes. They are produced freely from late winter through to late spring.
